To stop overthinking, you have to start looking at the positive outcomes. Let us say assume, you are thinking about quitting your job right now because you want to start your own business. Your mind will definitely start throwing negative outcomes at you. What if I fail? What if I lose all of my money? How many years it will take? You have to be aware that you are starting to look at the negative side.
Sure, questions like what if i fail, what if i lose all of my money are realistic but you have to also look at the positive side. What if your business generates millions of dollars? what if your business gets visibility fast? That is also a possibility.
2. Think about the solution and don’t look back
When you overthink, It’s common to think about the same set of questions you answered yesterday.
“what if I go bankrupt?”
“No I wont because I have enough experience”
But then the next day you hear about one of your colleagues who went bankrupt. The question invades your mind again. “There is a possibility, I could go bankrupt after seeing my friend like that”. To get out of the chain of the same thoughts, come to a conclusion and when the next time, the same question invades your mind, remember the answer you told to yourself.

Now, what is the correct way to meditate? Meditating right after waking up is the best time to meditate. When you sit to meditate, you have to focus on your breath. As simple as that. Your mind will start throwing excuses like “Its uncomfortable, I dont want to do it” while you meditate. You have to ignore these thoughts. You have to bring your focus on your breath every time you gets distracted.
30 minutes of meditation every day is a must. You can do more if you want. After 20 days, you will observe, you are becoming aware of the thoughts that lead to overthinking. You will catch yourself going into overthinking. When the thoughts come, you’ll be able to spot them and redirect your focus.
Find a new hobby. Try out different things and figure out what you like. Trying out different things will divert your mind from overthinking. And when you start to overthink, you can resort back to the hobby you have found to stop overthinking.
